Michael Classens attended the public schools of Bulloch County, graduating with honors from Statesboro High School in 1973 as the STAR student for Bulloch County. He graduated from Georgia Southern College with a B.S. in psychology in 1978 and earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1984. Michael joined the firm of Allen, Brown, Wright and Edenfield in Statesboro in June 1984 and was admitted as a member of the State Bar of Georgia in June 1985.

Since admission to the bar, Michael has been engaged in the general practice of law, focusing on the areas of criminal defense and family law. He is one of the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Georgia” according to the National Trial Lawyers and also one of the “Top 100 Family Lawyers for the State of Georgia” as recognized by the American Society of Legal Advocates. Since 2010, Michael has been certified as a mediator for general civil actions and divorce and custody actions, and is registered as such by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.

As a trial lawyer, Michael has successfully defended citizens accused of virtually every crime, from murder to drug conspiracy to DUI, and all in between. He has represented thousands of spouses, parents, grandparents and children in divorce and custody cases, hundreds of which have been resolved by trial.
